The F12 Trs, A Unique Made To Order Ferrari

Joe Hurley

With its distinctive red color and the glass finish on the hood to show part of its V12 engine, the Ferrari F12 TRS is a unique, custom made Cavallino valued at more than $4 million.

The latest edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England, where some of the world’s best super-cars gather every year, had a very special Ferrari at center stage: a custom-made Cavallino valued at more than $4 million.

Ferrari F12 TRS

The car in question is the Ferrari F12 TRS, which, although technically based on the F12 Berlinetta, features some alterations that make it unique. For example, the disappearing roof and frame-less windshield inevitably remind us of the Barchetta frame and evoke the legendary 250 Testa Rossa, on which it is inspired.

Other characteristic attributes of the Ferrari F12 TRS are two humps that come from behind to the two headrests, and the rear has been redrawn with the addition of an attractive new diffuser. Likewise, the front stands out with a more radical bumper, larger air intake and a glass surface embedded in the hood to show parts of its V12 engine. An unforgettable Ferrari factory tour.

But it is on the mechanical configurations that this one-off really shines. And, despite having a look decidedly more extreme than the F12 Berlinetta, the performance is virtually identical in both vehicles. As Ferrari pointed out, the F12 TRS has the same atmospheric 6,262 cc V12 engine and 740 hp; it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 232 mph. These are decent numbers, but far below what would be expected from such uncompromising design.

The interior of the Ferrari F12 TRS has been treated almost like that of a race-car, with a minimalist approach. By request, Ferrari has cut back all the elements that are useless while driving and could diminish performance: no glove box, audio system or central air vents. Leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber are the finishes used for the interior in an austere, hard and very sporty Corsa red, the iconic color created by Ferrari for this and other of their most-emblematic models.

After its presentation at Goodwood, we will probably never see this unique creation again. The Ferrari F12 TRS already has an owner. And although the owner’s identity has not been released, we know it was conceived and remodeled on behalf of one of the brand’s best clients.
