The Luxury Collection of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts recently introduced its newest Asian jewel in Dalian, a beautiful and vibrant city in northeast China. The five-star Castle Hotel rises over Dalian in a landmark building that has become a cultural emblem. Review our selection of luxury hotels throughout the world.
This stunning Bavarian-style castle takes over the slopes of Mount Lotus, facing Xinghai Square–one of the largest public squares in Asia. The privileged location gives the hotel stunning views of the luminous Xinghai Bay, the Yellow Sea, and the city. The exterior was carefully restored to maintain the castle’s original features while the interior areas were opulently decorated. The HBA Interior Design studio meticulously selected every detail, decorative touch and artworks for the massive project.
The resort features 292 luxurious rooms, including 29 suites and 67 private residences or villas with beautiful views of the Yellow Sea. The magnificent lobby features European-style columns that support the impressive glass dome that allows the natural light to filter in. At the end of the main hall, the imposing marble double staircase–crowned by two massive crystal chandeliers—reveals the designer’s grand esthetic intentions.
Among the many services and amenities at the Castle Hotel, we should mention the indoor pool, elegant ballrooms, and the Baden-Baden-style Kaiser Spa. Gastronomic treasures also abound. Zhen Bao restaurant offers superb haute cuisine with typical Cantonese dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients. The Royal Cellar bar celebrates the town’s affection for traditional German beer produced by the legendary Drei Kronen Brauerei. Also noteworthy is the Collections restaurant featuring an exquisite international menu, and the bars and cafes Lobby Lounge and Aristocrat Lounge.
The resort takes advantage of the exclusive Luxury Collection Concierge program, a smart alternative that strives to solve the cultural barrier between East and West. All the concierges are bilingual and certified with the Clef d’Or distinction. They work, in tandem, with interpreters and tour guides to elucidate the most intimate secrets of the city´s history.
Resort guests can visit nearby harbors and markets, as well as the historic battlefields of the Russo-Japanese War. The beaches of Jinshitan— also known as Golden Pebble— and the brand new Jinshi Golf course, designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Thomson, are also close by attractions.
With its stunning architecture, spectacular location and first-class service, the exclusive Castle Hotel in Dalian provides the perfect reason to venture and explore the ancient mysteries of the millenary and fascinating lands of China. ■
