These favorites, along with the rest of Yepez’s remarkable collection, were recently on display at Bloomingdales Aventura for a trunk show. The designer, who is involved with a range of charitable organizations, donated 10% of the proceeds from the show to Centro Mater Child Services, a South Florida organization that strives to aid economically disadvantaged families by providing quality childcare and education services. Her luxurious collection is now a permanent fixture at Bloomingdales. For the celebration, the designer was joined by some of the biggest names in Miami’s smart set who supported Yliana and the cause she so passionately endorses.
Yepez, who was born in Paris, but raised in Caracas, Venezuela and Beijing, China, began traveling the world with her parents and became enamored with fashion early on. Her travels helped shape her international style and sophisticated aesthetic.
She began modelling at 14, and by 23, she and a friend, Karen Kuperschmiedt, launched Blues by kyky, which eventually became one of the most popular accessory brands in Venezuela. In 2013, twenty years later, the designer, wife and mother of five, launched her own brand. Yepez creates accessories for a refined woman who desires functional and sophisticated pieces but is unwilling to give up style, a woman that establishes an emotional connection with the products, which become an extension of her personality. ■
