Hublot Mykonos: Precision And Luxury

Patricia Abaroa

Swiss luxury watchmaker, Hublot, finds inspiration in the Greek isles for its new limited edition collection.

Blue skies, a shimmering sun skipping over the ocean and those idyllic windmills, so beautiful against the sunset, are iconic images of the Greek island of Mykonos. Following the success of last year’s Classic Fusion Mykonos watch, Hublot ventures to take their luxury clients on another journey through the Mediterranean with their two new timepieces. Paying homage to Mykonos, the luxury Swiss watch brand has released two new limited edition watches that represent a fusion of elements: the earth and the sea.

Released this summer, both editions are crafted from gold or two-color titanium and gold. The two chic watches carry a HUB 1143 self-winding chronograph mechanism, built of 280 parts, including 59 jewels. The gold version, with only ten numbered pieces available, is made of a unique, red gold alloy, known as King Gold, exclusive to Hublot, which includes platinum to achieve the intense red color. The two-color version, with 25 numbered pieces, combines gold with titanium, a luxurious solution for lightness and resistance to shock and corrosion.

Hublot Mykonos: Precision and Luxury

A blue dial with gold indexes and skeletonized hands is masterfully used to represent sunshine bouncing off the beautiful Aegean Sea and showcases the internationally recognized symbol of Mykonos, the windmill, at three o’clock. Additionally, a rectangular window at 6 o’clock displays the date, and a 30 minute counter is located at 9 o’clock. The edge of the case back is satin finished titanium, and the transparent central part is covered with anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

Both come with a blue alligator strap sewn onto black rubber for resistance and comfort. The two limited editions also show off a satin finished bezel with six H-shaped titanium screws and the Hublot logo appearing on the crown. Glorifying the colors and beauty of Mykonos, these timepieces are vivid interpretations of the archetypal Greek island.
