These are the six wines that topped the list for 2015.
1- Champagne Charles Heidsieck Blanc Des Millenaires Millesime 1995, produced by the French winery Vranken Pommery Monopole Heidsieck. This is a masterpiece from the Côte des Blancs with a perfect combination of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes and 17 years of maturation. This legendary wine has been awarded numerous medals and trophies.
2- Champagne Piper-Heidsieck Rare Millésimé 2002, also produced by produced by the French winery Vranken Pommery Monopole Heidsieck. This vintage matures for seven years; its color is golden yellow gold has a brilliant and delicate effervescence. On the palate, it boasts notes of exotic fruit, mango, kiwi, pineapple and ginger as well as hazelnuts, almonds and figs, adding a mild hint of iodine and mint tea.
3- Syrah Wolf Blass Gold Label Shiraz 2012, produced by the Australian winery Wolf Blass Wines Pty Ltd.
An intensely aromatic wine with notes of red berries and spices, and aromas reminiscent of ginger and flowers. The palate offers the silky texture of berries with a faint touch of oak.
4- Selección Robles 1927 Pedro Ximénez, produced by the Spanish winery Bodegas Robles SA.
This is a sweet wine of the Pedro Ximénez variety and has the color of mahogany. The palate is sweet, creamy, with hints of roasted coffee and chocolate that bring a delightful bitterness to the end. The nose is elegant and intense, with notes of raisins, caramel and spicy aromas of cinnamon.
5- Bioca Godello 2013, produced by the Spanish winery María Teresa Núñez Vega.
From the Godello variety—and rated as the best white wine in the world—it shows a soft lemony color with a very pronounced floral aroma of jasmine and orange blossom. With a very well balanced acidity, its palate is intense with a lingering fruity finish.
6- Barefoot Cellars Pink Moscato, produced by the American winery Ernest and Julio Gallo Family – Barefoot Wine.
This Pink Moscato from the California winery brings the traditional flavors and aromas of Moscato, sweet and vibrant notes of red fruit, with aromas of tangerine and jasmine, enhanced by subtle hints of cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate. ■
