Mendoza is one of the most prosperous wine regions in the world. There are plenty of excellent wineries that produce unique and exciting vintages. Bodega Tapiz is a clear example of the extraordinary quality of Argentinian red wines. The combination of the soil at the foot of the Andes and excellent craftsmanship results in wines that truly capture the potential of this admirable wine region. Love of the land is the essence of a beautiful restaurant named Terruño. A very intimate space, with superb decor that celebrates the regional cuisine with an international twist, Terruño offers dishes made with local products such as goat, rabbit, trout and organic vegetables from the adjacent gardens, always paired with the best wines from Mendoza. To complete the experience, the restaurant serves a wide selection of fine wines from the other regions. Great Wine Capitals honored the restaurant as one of the best in Mendoza. Pairing food with wines of the same area is the perfect tandem since they tend to have a natural affinity. This is evident in the marriage of the local Malbec with Argentina’s national dish: asado (beef grilled over an open fire), which is served with a spicy sauce or chimichurri. But make no mistake: you must be Argentinian to get the recipe right. The South American country is internationally recognized for the excellent quality of its beef, which is present in almost every meal.
