Tiffany’s chooses Paris as the location for its European flagship store.

Founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany, Tiffany & Co. will celebrate this year its 175th anniversary. The jewelry firm has planned a very special event for the occasion, and nothing could be more special than opening its largest European boutique in the most romantic city: Paris.

Scheduled to open in 2014, the firm´s new flagship store joins the 247 sales outlets it already has all over the world. Behind the selection of Paris as the location for its newest and biggest European boutique, there are serious economic reasons. Paris has always been a favorite destination for Russian and Asian tourists, and that has not gone unnoticed by Tiffany, who already serves the luxury market with three other stores in the French capital, producing some of the largest profits for the brand.

Tiffany’s opened its first store en Paris in 1850. The Paris boutiques are located in rue de la Paix across from Cartier, in the Opera district, where the most prestigious jewelers and watchmakers in the world are concentrated, and in the world famous Galleries Lafayette. The firm has chosen historic Champs Elysées as the location for their fourth Parisian store. The address is 62 Champs-Elysées. With this new venture, Tiffany’s hopes to recover from the current economic slump. They expect the opening will herald the beginning of a more prosperous era for the firm.

The 10,000 square feet space, formerly occupied by fast food giant Quick, is divided into several floors. Quick decided to leave the space because it was just too expensive, something that is happening more and more frequently in the French capital. Without a doubt, the change of ownership will raise even more the prices in the area, if that is possible.

In a November press release, Frederic Cumenal, executive vice president of Tiffany & Co., explained that the success of the three stores they already have in Paris justifies this decision. “This premium location places Tiffany’s at an international level in the heart of a city where people from all over the world come to do their shopping,” he added.

Tiffany & Co, the jewelry firm immortalized in film, opens a new boutique that, without a doubt, will always have Audrey Hepburn admiring its window displays from Heaven.
