Lazareth LM 847: 4-wheeler motorcycle with a Maserati V8 motor

By J.M. Towers

Genuine fans of the motor world know that Annecy-le-Vieux—a commune in the region of Rhone-Alps, France—is the home and headquarters of Ludovic Lazareth. The famous designer and engineer specializes in modifying cars, motorcycles, quad bikes and tricycles into unique vehicles bearing his creative signature.

The car master manufactures vehicles for a very particular clientele that is intent on finding one-of-a-kind products. Since 1988, Lazareth directs Lazareth Auto-Moto, a firm dedicated to the design, creation, and modification of his personal and other manufacturer’s vehicles. His motorcycles and automobiles have been used in the Taxi television series, directed by the French Luc Besson.

His latest creation is the Lazareth LM 847, an impressive four-wheeled motorcycle presented at the recent Geneva Motor Show 2016.

"For me, every project starts with the engine, and I build the rest around it," explains Lazareth.

That approach is amply demonstrated, since most of its mechanicals, arranged in the 4.7-liter V8, 470 hp, 32-valve Maserati engine, are located in the center of the two axes of the four twin wheels, in front of a sleek ergonomic carbon handlebar. The rim-mounted brakes with friction rings mounted directly on the wheels are also unique.

Let’s not forget that the great gearbox has a sophisticated hydraulic frame that reaches breakneck speeds without making changes.

With a tilt design, Michelin Power Cup Evo wheels, 2.6 meters long, 900 mm wide, 1,000 high and a weight of 400 kilograms, plus a balanced suspension, this tilting quad bike is a real portent, a beast designed to satisfy the most demanding collectors.

Moreover, its beautiful outer shell made of fiberglass, kevlar, and carbon fiber, combines design and craftsmanship in such a special way that—depending on the angle you look at it—the Lazareth LM 847 seems to belong in the Batman saga.

A word of warning: the price of the Lazareth LM 847 is US $217,000, and although the amount may seem exorbitant for some, many will gladly pay it because more than a motorcycle, it could be considered a piece of sculpture.

"My clients are mostly collectors, people who do not consider these vehicles simple means of transport, but rather see them as prized artworks," says Lazareth.

Lazareth Auto-Moto
offers an exceptional post-sale service, as each component of the LM 847 model is referenced, listed and stored to be replaced at any time during the life of the vehicle.
